This month the focus was on Networking and we were delighted that Laura McHarrie - the most respected networker in the South of England - agreed to give us a presentation.
Like it or not, we network all the time. From the moment we step over the school ground threshold, we start building relationships. We continue to do so through college, university, work; the church, the pub, the golf club. Nowadays, we can do it through online social networks. Laura McHarrie, a Business Link Adviser, illustrated the power of LinkedIn as a networking tool that supports your face to face efforts.
Laura McHarrie has been a Business Link Advisor for almost seven years. After an early climb up the corporate ladder, she started two businesses, a retail outlet and a freelance practice. In between, she managed fashion retail business with 31 outlets that she had to liquidate during the millennium dot com boom. Following that, she spent three years at Weymouth College teaching and studying for a CertEd. She now uses all that experience in the management of the brilliant BusinessXchange programme: a learning and support network for business owners.
